If Lisboa was a woman…

My name is Jorge. I had the opportunity of travelling to Lisboa twice and it really amazes me. My story is similar to the poem of Jose Saramago, which I read after visiting the capital of Portugal and reminded me of the different places I visited in this beautiful city.

If you have never been in Lisboa, I would like to invite you to live this experience through my travel story, first alone and then with my family.

Love at first sight

I fell in love with Lisboa on my first visit. It’s an impressive beauty to discover!

Note: I joined the parties in Barrio Alto every night.

Visiting Lisbon

Family travel to Lisboa

Lisboa flights are not cheap as it’s a popular tourist city in Europe, but you can find many low cost airlines with special offers.

We arrived to Lisbon on Sunday and stayed at a beautiful hotel in the centre of the capital (Avenida da Liberdade) where the staff was really friendly: our double room in Lisboa was not available but they gave us a superior one immediately.

We are talking about Vincci Liberdade hotel, the perfect hotel for our family holidays in Lisboa, close to monuments, cultural attractions, bars, terraces and restaurants, and with excellent services and facilities to avoid problems and stress.

We first visited Santa Justa, and discover Avenida da Liberdade, full of luxury shops. The walk is really nice and the weather was great all the time, so I enjoyed waiting with my baby while my wife was shopping.

We took a ride on the 28 tram stopping at interesting points of the city and we also visited the castle.

We asked the hotel where to rent some bikes to visit interesting neighbourhoods in the city. It was the perfect family plan. We then ate at the hotel a la carte restaurant in the heart of  Avenida da Liberdade.

I specially recommend to cross Vasco da Gama bridge by bike. You should also taste francesinhas, gods of Olympus’ food and drink some beers at Plaza de Comercio.
