Mallorca and its “must sees” for adventurous families

Although we are well into this routine of “snuggling under the covers”, at least we know that the summer will return eventually and with it our longed for vacation. Experts say that there is nothing better than taking advantage of these cold months to fix on the destination, the hotel deal and work out our leisure plans. We know there are hundreds of destinations in our country but are they all suitable for those who want to travel as a family? No, certainly not.

Since we are aware that in summer we are all looking for the balance between fun and relaxation, this month in Family Holidays Destinations we focus on Mallorca. Is there anything better than thinking about a family holiday with the Mediterranean as a backdrop?

Mallorca, with its many pros and its few cons, is an ideal island to spend a family holiday. A leading destination for national tourism and extremely well known internationally (especially by the British and German travelers), the largest of the Balearic Islands hides a thousand and one treasures that are perfect for those family excursions that we love.

If you have you thought about this destination for your 2017 Summer holiday you’ll want to know what the ‘must sees’ are that you can’t ignore once you are on the island? Take note because they are not all in the usual travel guides.

The Caves of the Drach

The Caves of the Drach

One of Mallorca’s main attractions is located in Porto Cristo (in the municipality of Manacor, home of tennis player Rafa Nadal). With its mysterious nooks giving them  a magic difficult to describe, the visit to the legendary Caves of the Drach is one of the things that can’t be missed on any family trip. You can avoid the crush of the Summer crowds by visiting them during the week and first thing in the morning.

The Costitx Observatory

Although not all travel guides talk about it as they should, don’t miss a visit to the Costitx Observatory. In addition to being a spectacular and really beautiful planetarium, this observatory in Mallorca is fundamental in international missions and of great importance in discoveries thanks to its more than twenty localized extragalactic supernovae.

The route of the marshes

Although coming to Mallorca in Summer and not going to the beach is like going to Paris and not going up to the Eiffel Tower, the truth is that the island’s mountains are ideal for a good morning excursion with the family. You could choose to do a tour of Cover the marshes and get to know the beauty of Gorg Blau. We can assure you that the experience is well worth it.

Leader of the Family Friendly label

One of the advantages of Majorca is that you don’t have to invest too much time in locating a hotel that shows the Family Friendly sign since in the island lots of establishments are designed for those who travel with their family. Hotels like Sol House or Sol Beach House (located in the municipality of Calvià and endorsed by the brand Sol Hotels) is full of extras for both big and small and it also has ideal prices.
